Brooks Pierce is a sponsor of NC TECH’s State of Tech EXPONENTIAL conference on May 14-15 at the Durham Convention Center. The event includes a kick-off networking reception and a NEXT TECH Awards Celebration in partnership with Business North Carolina. Partner Will Quick is on the cybersecurity breakout session panel, “Critical Infrastructure + Attack Surface.” Other panelists include Bernice Bond, Chief Information Security Officer at NCDIT, Stephen Franklin, Chief Operating Officer at Netwatch.ai, Jennifer Minella, Founder and Principal Advisor, Network Security at Viszen Security, and Dan Gizzi, Managing Director at CyberGlobal. Brooks Pierce attorney Graham Dean is moderating the artificial intelligence (AI) breakout session panel discussion, “Ethical AI.” Panelists include Shankar Babu Chebrolu, Director of Security Architecture at Red Hat, David Ellison, Chief Data Scientist & Director of AI Engineering at Lenovo, I-Sah Hsieh, Artificial Intelligence Governance + Policy Executive at NCDIT and Stephanie McKee, Chief Technology Thought Partner at Apparo.

Quick has a diverse litigation and regulatory practice, representing businesses and local governments in trial, appellate matters, and before state agencies in North and South Carolina. He specializes in litigating individual and class action related to data breaches and violations of privacy protection laws, particularly regarding website tracking and wiretapping. Quick also advises on privacy compliance programs and assists businesses navigate data breach responses, including ransomware attacks. He is a Board Certified Specialist in Privacy and Information Security Law from the North Carolina Board of Legal Specialization.

Dean advises clients on federal and state privacy compliance matters across various industries. Prior to joining Brooks Pierce, he worked as a legal data protection counsel at a large multinational investment bank and as a privacy and cyber associate at an Am Law 50 law firm. These experiences have equipped Dean with the knowledge and practical experience needed to assist clients with complex data privacy and security issues. He also holds an IAPP CIPP/US certification.
