Brooks Pierce Welcomes Two New Associates

Leading North Carolina law firm Brooks Pierce is pleased to announce that two new associates, Lindsey Barber and Joe Newlon, have joined the firm.

“We are excited to welcome Lindsey and Joe to Brooks Pierce,” said Reid Phillips, the firm’s managing partner. “They have passion both for for the law and for serving clients, and we know they will do great work.”

Barber is based in the firm’s Raleigh office and focuses her practice on commercial litigation representing clients in state and federal courts. Prior to her career at Brooks Pierce, Barber danced professionally with the Alabama Ballet and served as a law clerk to Judge L. Scott Coogler in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her juris doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law.

Based out of the firm’s Greensboro office, Newlon advises clients on a myriad of complex business matters. Before joining Brooks Pierce, Newlon worked at a law firm in Maryland, where he represented clients in mergers and acquisitions, technology transfer and software licensing, intellectual property, employment, real estate and corporate matters. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Davidson College and his juris doctor from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Newlon is licensed to practice law in Maryland and is currently undertaking the process to become licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
